In a twist of fate, the zoo had to close due to the lack of daily visitors. However, this does not satisfy local officials who want to show off their kingdom's wildlife. Therefore, the name of the park was changed to Cochin State Museum in 1912 by Curator Diwan K. Narayana Marar. However, in the same year, he had to move to Chembukkavu, which is still the Thrissur Zoo today. Many animals are kept by Tripunithura Palace. The main reason why the zoo was built in the heart of the city is to provide clean and fresh air to people. Today the zoo is being expanded by building a new zoo in Puttur. The improvement plan aims to expand the Garden from 13.5 Acres to 306 Acres for better protection of endangered species.
